SWA – Solid Waste Authority Contract

Indian Trail hosted a meeting on February 10, 2021 where the SWA representatives and Commissioner McKinlay attended to discuss the current waste contract, review service options as well as to answer resident questions and concerns. The meeting was the direct result of a community petition that was submitted to SWA Board, as well as to the Board of County Commissioners. There were some technical difficulties during the meeting with audio, so the meeting video is not helpful to review what was presented. There were a handful of residents who attended in person and another handful that attended via Zoom. To review the presentation, see the slide show below. Important note: If your debris pile meets the requirements and has been skipped, please report it immediately. If the service provider has skipped the pick-up, they will be required to pick it up within 48 business hours. Otherwise, they will be fined according to their contract. Leaving it and adding to it the following week doesn't give you the double allotment and could put you in a situation where now you don't comply with the maximum 6cy - 1 pile requirement. If you have any questions or concerns, you should always call SWA customer service at 561-697-2700.

    The problem is they do not fulfill their agreement. We follow all the rules and they don’t pick up timely. Even regular garbage. Our day is Tues and Friday. On Tuesday they skip our street regularly. They used to answer the phone now they only take messages so you have no proof you even called. When you put a small under the limit of yard debris they don’t pick up for weeks. Then you have to store excess in your yard or take to dump and pay. It is just wrong….we have lived here since 1992 and never had issues until the new contract. Something is amiss and no one seems to cate.

      Every time they skip you for any service, it should be reported immediately. This is the only way for SWA to track the contractors not fulfilling their contract.
